I’m a freelance music journalist, born and raised in the comforts of Orange County, California who decided to leave it all behind to follow my dream of seeing the world. I quit my jobs, bought a one-way ticket to Bangkok and took off. With no plans, no travel partner and only a few thousand dollars I embarked on what was supposed to be a 6-month-long Southeast Asian adventure. After traveling for a few months through Thailand and Cambodia, I ended up in a little beach town in Vietnam, where I fell in love. I was only supposed to pass through on my way up north but three weeks later I boarded a plane to Sydney with my new Aussie boyfriend and his Swiss best friend.
With an expiring visa and three months of exploring Australia’s eastern coast under my belt, I decided to fly home to see my friends and family and save money for an Australian working/holiday visa. Now, with the Australian government’s permission, I’m starting this new chapter of my life. With limited funds but a van armed with a queen-sized mattress, a pull-out refrigerator, a WIFI hotspot, a portable stove, a killer sound system and a solar panel on the roof, we will spend the next year traveling the country, working when we can and living the simple life. This is our story.
I *love* your story and can’t wait to read more. Thanks so much for visiting my site and deciding to follow along.
Thanks for reading, Sandy. Your story captured me too and I’ll be sure to see where life takes you 🙂
